Eastern Market

I'm going to tell you all about one of my most favorite places in the world. At least that I've been to.

Back in the Capitol

Hello again beautiful friends :)

So it seems like I'm finding myself in DC about once a month since my sister moved out here. Not gonna lie, I don't mind it one bit!!

We've had family plans to road trip out thru the beautiful mountains for a visit, but I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go because of the job hunt. (Yes, I'm still looking for a job. No, I don't want to talk about it right now.)

But since I'm still unemployed, I figured "what the hell!" and tagged along with my parents. Its about a 10 or 11 hour drive from Indiana with stops, so we left at the crack of dawn yesterday and hit the road. We were taking my sister's roommate back out with us, and her cat Roger. We rolled into DC (after getting a bit lost) right as the sun was going down- so it was a full day of driving. As much as I love driving and road trips, after about 6 hours in the car I'd rather just hop on a plane.

But the trees thru the mountains were absolutely gorgeous. We stopped in West Virginia to take in the air and sights (and get coffee, of course), but none of the pictures I could snap from where we were or from the car window did it justice.

But the first pumpkin spice latte of the season sure hit the spot with the fall foliage!

We unpacked a bit and said our hellos, and then headed over to Eastern Market to a little pub to grab a bite and a bev, because Lord knows that's two necessities after a long car ride. We went to Tunicliff's Tavern and sat outside. Holy moly it's hot here! Despite it being October, its supposed to get up to 90 today. Yikes! I'm just ready to wear boots and sweaters, not shorts.

Anyways, we sat and caught up outside on their tiny little patio. Eastern market is such a cute neighborhood- so many different restaurants and shops to check out. I had a delicious crab cake sandwich with plenty of beers. I wasn't feeling too adventurous, so I stuck to a typical Goose Island 312 out of Chicago. Had to keep a bit of the midwest with me! The food was absolutely fabulous though- if you want some pub fare, I'd definitely recommend it! All of their entrees and sandwiches looked good, but for a side definitely get the potato salad. It was delicious. I could've just eaten a big bowl of that for dinner if it were socially acceptable.

Today we're heading back to Eastern Market. On the weekends they have an absolutely adorable farmers and flea market. I snapped a ton of pictures of it last time I was out here and never got around to posting about it. Story of my life. They have so many neat jewelry booths so I'm hoping to snag something from one of those today. And some produce for dinner, of course! We're staying in tonight for dinner, so I'm sure we'll whip up something tasty!

Cheers!

Viva Las Vegas!

Growing up, I always wanted a big family. Ya know, with like 50 or so cousins?
